Practice MapISRO Centres in India — Map & Complete List
The Indian Space Research Organisation runs a genuinely nationwide network — not one campus, but 26 separate establishments spread from Thiruvananthapuram to Shillong, each doing a different part of the job: designing rockets, building satellites, tracking them once they're in orbit, or actually launching them.
This is a blank practice map, not a pre-labeled reference map. Every location on it is left for you to identify and mark yourself — the facts on this page are your answer key for filling it in, exactly the way it's used for exam revision.
26 establishments in the ISRO network
21 major centres + 5 supporting facilities
Bengaluru alone hosts 7 of them
How many ISRO centres are there, and what do they do?
21 of the 26 are classed as major centres and 5 as supporting facilities (down-range tracking stations and observatories). Between them they cover the entire chain of a space mission: Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre in Thiruvananthapuram designs the launch vehicles, U.R. Rao Satellite Centre and Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre in Bengaluru build the satellites and engines, and Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh is the one point on the whole map that's an actual launch site rather than a design or research centre.
Bengaluru is the single most concentrated node — seven separate centres, including satellite design (URSC), propulsion (LPSC), tracking (ISTRAC), and the Human Space Flight Centre running the Gaganyaan programme. No other city comes close.
Where are the other centres located?
Outside Bengaluru and Sriharikota, the network reaches Ahmedabad (Space Applications Centre and Physical Research Laboratory), Hyderabad (National Remote Sensing Centre), Dehradun (Indian Institute of Remote Sensing), Hassan and Bhopal (the two Master Control Facilities that monitor satellites once they're in orbit), Mahendragiri in Tamil Nadu (propulsion testing), and Shillong (North Eastern-Space Applications Centre). The five supporting facilities push the network further still — Port Blair, Mount Abu, and Udaipur among them.
